Well, if you watched the ESPN awards, you already know that Tim Tebow won the Maxwell Award for the second straight year. Only the late great ND QB Johnny Lattner has won the award twice. Tebow has a passing rating of 176.7 with 28 TDs and only TWO Interceptions!!! He also rushed for 564 yards and scored 12 TDs running the ball this year. Early in the evening, Big T. also won the Disney Spirit Award for service off the field. Noted: He went soul winning in the Philippines last year during spring break for a week. He also spoke at over 400 places since coming to Florida, including many prisons in Florida, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Tim says those awards are special, but has his sights set on winning another national championship, because you share that with everyone on the team. Well, he might just win one more trophy on Saturday night when this year’s Heisman is announced. It would be back-to-back for TT. Only Archie Griffin has won the Heisman twice. On Jan 8th, TT and the Gators play for their second national championship in three years. GO Gators!!!
The word is out, Florida Gator Percy Harvin will play in the National Championship against the Oklahoma Sooners. A healthy Harvin will of course have a tremendous impact on the outcome of the big game. Many people focus on his raw explosive talent, and they should, but the biggest aspect of a healthy Harvin, might just be his ability to draw attention as a decoy. Tim Tebow and the Gators can win the Championship without getting the ball to Percy one single time.
Florida truly did miss Percy in the SEC Championship game. Heck, it might of been 41-20 if he was playing. But as we saw in that game, the Gators have an arsenal of offensive weapons always on standby. No team can afford to shun the likes of Tim Tebow, Jerrery Demps, and Chris Rainey. And how can you come up with an effective game plan that realistically covers those guys and then Riley Cooper, David Nelson, Brandon James, and Emmanuel James as well. The answer is, you probably can’t! I would like to throw another nuke at you while we’re talking great players, his name is Aaron Hernandez. This guy is off the charts with talent. If there is one guy that the Sooners should watch, it’s Hernandez.
Of course, any great coach like Bob Stoops will naturally try and formulate some plan to contain the highly potent Gators. Truthfully, I’d rather be in Urban Myer’s shoes, because Florida has the ability to get you off balance and then knock you out. Sometimes all you can do is try and hold on like some tired boxer getting beat down in the corner while the crowd yells…”knock em out, knock em out.” Yeah, the Gators do float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.
Now back to Harvin, who might be the most entertaining college football player ever to play at the University of Florida. Nobody gets the fans out of their seats like this guy. He has the ability to make tacklers look silly, with his nasty jukes, as they try and bring him down, then turns on the jets and he is gone. I mean, GONE! Just like Coach Myer has said many times this year, Percy Harvin has the best first step in college football. And second step, and third step and…you get the picture.
So will they get Percy the ball? I think we all know that answer, of course they will! Some coach up in the box, high above the playing field will see some situation developing each and every play, until the call is made. The obvious conversation will go something like this. “It’s Time.” That’s all that he will need to say. “It’s Time.” And the next play, Tebow will be looking down field for the Heisman that could of been. If those two hook up, watch out, because, “he-could-go-all-the -way!!!”
Coach Stoops has his hands full the next couple of weeks trying to come up with some sort of plan to deal with the feisty Florida bunch, but his hardest job of all, might be trying to sale it to his own team. If those Sooner players watched any Gator games this year, or ESPN highlights, they must be reeling with anxiety at this point. But if there is one team that can possibly upset the Gators, it’s the Sooners. Why? I’m so glad you insist on proding me for my infinite college football wisdom. It’s because Bob Stoops used to be the defensive coordinator for the Florida Gators. Just thought I’d throw that in there too!
Whatever the outcome, the National Championship is sure to be one heck of a shoot out. And I believe those Gators will be the National Champions a lot Sooner than those Okie dudes! Go Gators!!!
You couldn’t ask for a better football game, than what you got between Florida and Alabama, Saturday night in the SEC Championship. The Florida Gators are once again crowned SEC Champs for 2008!!!
I’m looking forward to a great National Championship between the Florida Gators and the Oklahoma Sooners, but won’t make any predictions on that game yet. The Sooners are a step up from the Tide, but not as deadly as USC. Praise God we don’t have to play those wicked Trojans.
I wish the best for Alabama. They are a real class act. -CJ II
The Gators enjoyed a substantial talent advantage against The Citadel, rolling up 705 yards of offense in a 70-19 rout of the visiting Bulldogs.
The win on senior day extended Florida’s current streak of scoring 42 points or more to six straight games, the longest active run in the nation.
It was the final home game for Florida’s 21 seniors, though much speculation swirled about whether it was the final home game for junior quarterback Tim Tebow, junior receiver Percy Harvin and junior linebacker Brandon Spikes. All three could end up entering their names in the NFL Draft at the end of the season. Tebow took a victory lap around Florida Field following the game. “I’m not even thinking about that right now,” Tebow said, when asked if it was his last home game.
Below is the blog entry that was posted live on ESPN, Saturday, the 22th of Nov.. ESPN Rocks!!!
Gators Salivate for Cute Alabama Elephant
Another Saturday comes and goes bringing us closer to the ultimate college football showdown. On Dec 6th, college football fans will witness the greatest game of the entire year when Florida meets Alabama in the SEC Championship. The winner of that game should be instantly assured an invitation to play in the Orange Bowl for the National Championship. The Gators once again annihilated their opponent Saturday by a score of 56-6, while Alabama looked like a Pop Warner team against a 3-7 Miss State team. Bama better watch out or they just might get surprised by the Auburn Tigers on Nov. 29th. But I hope not because like all Gator fans, I want them undefeated and ranked #1 in the nation. Just saving all that treasure for the hungry Gators to snatch away on Dec 6th. A victory as a minimum will put the Gators in second place nationally and playing for their third national championship. Go Gators!!!
Ruining Miami’s return to national prominence, Georgia Tech ran for a staggering 472 yards—the second-most ever allowed by the Hurricanes—and romped to a 41-23 victory Thursday that gives the Yellow Jackets a chance to pull out an Atlantic Coast Conference divisional title that no one seems eager to win – Yahoo Sports
Coming off a big weekend thrashing of South Carolina on the football field, the Florida Gators kept their hot streak alive along the recruiting trail on Monday with the commitment of four-star defensive end Nick Kasa. The 6-foot-7, 245-pound Rivals250 member chose the Gators over the home-state Colorado Buffaloes. He is Florida’s 13th public commitment for the class of 2009.
